Introduction to listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills within a Chinese cultural framework. Students who begin Chinese 1410 toward degree requirements must also complete 1420.

Chinese 1420: Beginning Chinese II

Continued practice in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills within a Chinese cultural framework. Prerequisite: Chinese 1410

Chinese 2310: Intermediate Chinese I

Continued development and review of all language skills within a Chinese cultural framework. Most students will need to complete Chinese 1410 and 1420 before beginning 2310.

More advanced practice in all language skills with greater emphasis on reading within a Chinese cultural framework.

Chinese 3301: Conversational Chinese

This course is designed to improve oral communication skills in Chinese using current video and text media.  The course will include the development of vocabulary and grammar necessary for communication and will focus on selected cultural themes.  Students' group video projects will be posted on a course blog.
